Meet Doctor Sam Muwafaq
When I was in college, I went to a workshop and I heard the dentist talking. Okay, dentists, we use a lot of science, we implement a lot of cutting-edge technology techniques, and we use our hands a lot to treat patients and make them smile. Like, okay, you know, I like that. These are two things I’m good at. So I went and chatted with dentist at UK University, where I went to school. And I fell in love with it ever since. Like, okay, that’s exactly what I want to do. Even before, like, that was in my freshman year in high school, I started working in the dental clinic. Just, I loved it so much. I started working on the side and observing and shadowing, and I fell in love with dentistry ever since. And that’s why I decided to make me want to be a dentist. The most rewarding thing about being a dentist to me is kind of, like, a little bit traditional of what you heard of in the past. Since I was observing dentistry when I was in college, when I was observing and shadowing other dentists, usually patients come to the dentist to do one thing at a time. Do a filling, go, come back, do a cleaning, go, come back, do a crown and root canal, etc. I take a pride in the way we do dentistry here. And it’s that because of my drive to change dentistry a little bit for the better for our patients. What I do, what I really believe into the core, I believe I treat the oral cavity as an organ, like a heart, a kidney. It is not like a single individual tooth in the oral cavity. So the way we really take a pride in doing dentistry here, we’ll bring the patient back, make a plan for them, and then we’ll get him back one time. We put him to sleep completely sedated. We’ll treat everything the same day. We do the cleaning, whatever crowns they need, whatever root canals they need, whatever implants they need, extractions, wisdom teeth. All will be done in one day. They don’t have to remember anything. No needles, no stress. I know, I know that dentist’s is not the best place to be, but, you know, with our busy lives right now, I mean, we…I really take pride in what we do here, and we’re really good at it.
