Find Out What Gum Reshaping Can Do for You
So the causes of gummy smile could be multiple things. One of the things could be small teeth that give you gummy smile. Secondly, like, a second cause, you could have long gums. Like, your gums are overgrown over your teeth, which make them look small. That’s the second cause. The third cause is you just have naturally high upper lip. Your upper lip goes much higher when you smile. We have to look and see what causes your gummy smile and, you know, address the cause.
If it is a lot of gums, we need to kind of reshape the gums with a laser, okay? And it will expose more tooth structure and that will show that you have a lot of tooth exposed, okay? If you have just small teeth due to attrition, due to grinding, we have to restore the teeth, crown them, or do veneers, or something to give you that smile you need. If you have an upper high, naturally high smile line, which means, like, your upper lip just goes much higher, right beneath your nose when you smile, then we need to reposition your upper lip. Small surgical procedure, we can reposition that so when you smile, the upper lip doesn’t go as much. And we can do it as simple as instead of any surgery, we can actually do it with Botox. We can do Botox here and here just to kind of relax these muscles that pull up your lip and when you smile, your lip will not go up as high. So there are many things to address. Sometimes the cause of gummy smile could be in one patient not only one cause, could be three of them or four. So we have to address all of them together. But the good thing about it, it could all be addressed easily and very simple techniques and should really take about 30 minutes to an hour of work time. And that will, over time, it will reposition your smile to where it needs to be.
