Relax With Sedation During Your Root Canal Procedure

Root canal therapy, a type of endodontic treatment, is a procedure performed by your dentist to treat and save a tooth that has become infected or severely decayed. It involves removing the infected pulp from the tooth’s interior, cleaning the canals, and sealing them to prevent further infection.

As a dental provider, our primary goal during root canal treatment is to relieve your pain and preserve your natural tooth. We know that the thought of undergoing a root canal procedure may cause anxiety, but rest assured that we do everything possible to ensure your comfort.

Not only will we numb the area we’re working on, you’ll also have access to one of our sedation options:

  • Inhaled Sedation – Laughing gas will give you an allover feeling of euphoria and relaxation.
  • Oral Conscious Sedation – Feel completely at ease in the dental chair using a small pill.
  • IV Sedation – Relax in a “twilight” state while we repair your tooth.

After your root canal is complete, we recommend restoring your repaired tooth with a new crown. Using our in-house CEREC system, we can design, fabricate, and place your crown all at the same appointment. You won’t need to schedule a separate appointment to get your crown. Common Questions About Root Canals

Why have a root canal?

Root canals are needed when the pulp inside the tooth becomes diseased. This can happen either when a cavity goes untreated and infection spreads to the pulp, or when a tooth undergoes some sort of trauma that allows bacteria inside. In either case, we can usually save the tooth with root canal treatment.

Are root canals painful?

While they have that reputation, most patients find a root canal no more uncomfortable than receiving a filling. The procedure eliminates pain; it doesn’t cause it! We’ll numb your mouth with local anesthesia so you don’t feel pain. You may find it easier to relax if you also receive one of our forms of safe dental sedation.

How much does a root canal cost?

Treatment costs can vary greatly for a root canal, so you will need to come in for an initial exam and imaging before we can give you a cost for your particular procedure. For your convenience, we do offer several flexible payment options, including financing through a third party.
